Top of the World
December 11th, 2019
At this time of the year when the days are short and it rains day after day, we are fortunate to have easy access to two huge fields just a short walk along the lane from Kingscote. I call this area “Top of the World”, (I remember this quote from a 1949 film Jimmy Cagney film, White Heat) but the proper name is Great Hill.
The fields are not cultivated and are more like meadows than grass fields. The benefit of this type of growth is the dogs never come away from their daily visit covered in mud and dirt. A quick rub with a towel is all that’s needed to leave the dogs as good as new. Being the highest place in Torquay, the view is pretty spectacular too!
By the way, I remember the Jimmy Cagney film from when it was screened in the 1970's, not 1949!!
